act In this study, the effect of specific surface of magnetite concentrate of Golgohar Mining and Industrial Company on properties of pellets produced and alternative bentonite binder with compound boron to reduce bentonite consumption studied. To investigate the effect of specific surface, the concentrates with different specific surfaces of 1850, 2050, 2250 and 2400 cm 2 /g, 0.7%wt bentonite, 8/5%wt water and 0.03%wt NaOH was used. The optimum specific surface whit investigating properties of green and fired pellets was determined. By using the concentrate with optimum specific surface, to reduce the consumption of bentonite, from different percentages of boron oxide was used and optimal value of bentonite was determined. Colemanite as boron oxide-containing compound with different percentages in both state calcined and non-calcined with bentonite was used. The results showed that, with increasing specific surface magnetite concentrates, green and fired pellets compressive strength increased, while the porosity and reducibility of fired pellets decreased. Hence, specific surface magnetite concentrates with the amount 2050 cm 2 /g as appropriate specific surface was selected. Compressive strength of green pellets with the increase of the boron oxide increased and then decreased. Use of boron oxide, major influence on the compressive strength of fired pellets showed, so that use of 0.8 percent boron oxide, to lead 36 percent increase in compressive strength pellets fired. Using 0.4 percent boric oxide, increased 11 percent porosity fired pellets and then, whit increase the percentage of boron oxide porosity reduced and reducibility for pellets produced with 0.4 percent boron oxide plus 0.5 percent bentonite obtained more than any other. The 0.5 percent bentonite was selected as the amount optimum. The results showed that use of non calcined colemanite caused significant reduction in compressive strength fired pellets and use of colemanite as binder in iron ore pelletizing requires calcination colemanite treatment. Increase the percentage of calcined colemanite without bentonite, compressive cold strength increased. Also the porosity and reducibility of fired pellets with calcined colemanite was more than pellets are produced with calcined colemanite plus 0.5 percent bentonite was obtained. Properties of green pellets produced with calcined colemanite achieved less than the minimum amount required. Using combination of calcined colemanite and bentonite, significantly compressive strength of pellets green and fired increased. The obtained results showed that with decrease of the consumption of bentonite from 0.7 to 0.5 percent and alternative with 0.25%wt calcined colemanite, properties of green and fired pellets improved.
