In recent years, traarent ceramics, especially magnesium aluminate spinel, have attracted many researchers in light of the great optical properties of infrared electromagnetic waves. However, due to weak spinel mechanical properties, the use of this material in tensile environments is limited. To solve this problem, methods such as composites are used to increase the strength of this material. The purpose of this study was to improve the mechanical properties of traarent spinel and simultaneously maintain its optical properties. Therefore, silicon nitride was used due to its mechanical properties and also the refractive index of the spinel as a reinforcing agent.
