Priscilla with scientific name adiantum capillus veneris has properties such as therapy cough, throat inflammation, bronchitis, and shortness of breath. Priscilla has beneficial ingredients, including palmitic acid, which has been extracted in this project. This material is widely used in the manufacture of cosmetics and hygiene products In this study, palmitic acid was extracted via supercritical carbon dioxide with methanol as an entertainer and Subsequently the results were compared with Soxhlet method as the base case of 100% recovery. Design of experiment carried out with response surface methodology (RSM) using Minitab software. The operating temperature (35-55 ?C), the operating pressure (10-30 Mpa), the dynamic extraction time (40-120 min), and the flow rate of CO2 (0.6-1.8 ml/min) have been considered as operating variables. The extracted samples were analyzed by gas chromatograohy (GC) The palmitic acid recovery results indicated that the data adequately fitted into a second-order polynomial model R 2 =87/52 It was predicted that the optimum extraction conditions within the experimental ranges would be the extraction pressure of 22/12MPa, temperature of 46/6 ?C, flow rate of 1/31 ml/min, and exraction time of 98/98 min with 56/92 recovery. Then, the effect of changes in temperature, pressure, flow rate and time on the recovery rate was shown by the corresponding diagrams.
