: This research is done due to improvement of simple carbon steel st52 Tribological manner by means of TiNi and TiNi-TiC coatings created by welding; and comparing their microstructure and wear manner together. For this purpose, Ti-Ni and Ti-Ni-C powder mixtures were mixed in two groups called A and B with equal stochiometry ratio. Group A and B content were TiNi and TiNi-TiC respectively. Then Ti, Ni and TiC powders were mixed in air using a ball mill apparatus for 2 hours. After that a layer of 1 mm of each group was coated on substrate by mixing with acetone to be dough like and was melted by GTAW process. X-Ray Diffraction, optical microscope, scanning electron microscope, microhardness test and reciprocating wear test were used to study phase kind, microstructure, and microhardness profile and wear mechanisms. Studies were demonstrated that for Ti-Ni mixture TiNi, Ti 2 Ni and a little amount of TiO 2 and for Ti-Ni-C mixture TiNi-TiC, FeNi and Fe 3 O 4 were formed on the substrate. Hardness of TiNi was about 700 Vickers and for TiNi-TiC was about 800 Vickers. The results achieved in this research have shown that friction coefficient was decreased and tribological manner was improved by using these two coatings on St52 carbon steel. By detecting wear surfaces and wear bits, abrasion and lamination mechanisms were resulted for TiNi, adhesion and abrasion were resulted for TiNi-TiC composition.
