Abstracs Distribution networks do not usually continue to work in the case of disconnection of main grid and islanding operation. Thus distributed generations (DGs) must be equipped with an anti-islanding protection to detect islanding condition and disconnect them from the main grid. Each anti-islanding protection has to be able to detect islanding condition in all operating points of the system and to distinguish non-islanding disturbances such as short-circuit faults, loads changes, and capacitor switching from islanding conditions.Islanding detection methods are mainly communication based methods and passive and active ones, which every methods has specific advantages and shortcomings. For this reason, various hybrids methods are proposed. On the other hand, islanding detection for synchronous generators faces more challenges than inverter-based DGs. This thesis proposes a hybrid method for islanding detection of synchronous DGs in which following methods are combined: (1) power line signaling (PLS) which is a communication based method and (2) a passive method based on wavelet transform of disturbance signals that employs a dicision tree (DT) kashida; TEXT-ALIGN: justify; TEXT-KASHIDA: 0%; MARGIN: 0cm 0cm 0pt; unicode-bidi: embed; DIRECTION: ltr" Keywords: 1) Anti-islanding protection 2) synchronous distributed generator3) power line signaling (PLS)4) classification and dicision tree (CART)4) discrete wavelet transform (DWT).
