This project consists of two independent parts. The first part describes the oxidation of alcohols and deprotection of R-OTMS and R-OTHP in the presence of 1-butyl-3-methyl imidazolium bromide as catalyst and solvent by K 2 S 2 O 8 as oxidant. The advantages of using K 2 S 2 O 8 by this method are, using inexpensive reagent without using hazardous organic solvent. This method is chemoselective and can of oxidation of benzylic alcohol without over oxidation. In the second part, we study the iodination of variety of aliphatic and benzylic alcohols by using of 1-butyl-3-methyl imidazolium bromide as catalyst and solvent by using PPh 3 / I 2 . The method is efficient, straightforward and green chemistry with high yield and short reaction period. All of the productions were identified by Mass spectroscopy, IR, melting or boiling point.
