In the first project HAP/FeCl3 was prepared by impregnation method. Then the nanocatalyst was characterized by TEM, SEM, XRD and was tested for Friedel–Crafts alkylation. The various parameters such as time, temperature, %w FeCl3, amount of the catalyst were optimized. The catalyst can be recovered and recycled. In the second project Husk rice/CuS nanocatalyst was prepared by Co-precipitation method. This catalyst was doped with Ni(II). The nanocatalysts were characterized by FT-IR spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDX), UV-Vis spectroscopy and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The photocatalytic activity of the nanocatalysts were evaluated by photocatalytic oxidation of Acid Orange (II) under ultraviolet (UV) and visible (Vis) irradiations. Photocatalytic results proved that doping of CuS with Ni(II) enhanced the CuS photocatalytic activity towards Acid Orange (II) photodegradation under UV and Vis irradiation. The reaction parameters such as amount of the catalyst, initial concentration of Acid Orange (II), pH of the solution, weight percent of Ni(II) were optimized.
