Mercury (Hg) is one of the heavy metals, It’s very toxic and entering of this element to our body’s create irreparable effects on brain and nerve system. But It has several applications Like medicine apparatus, volcanic materials, painting industries, amalgam preparation in Dentistry, thermometers, indicator, etc. Hence development of methods for mercury Quantification is very important. In this work a cheap, easy and sensitive method for determination of mercury was presented . In part one 4-OH-H2Salabza reagent immobilized on cellulosetriacetate membrane and mercury determined by following absorption of mercury complex at 341 nm. Calibration plots were found to be linear in the range of 6.2×10-5-1.0×10-2 M of Hg(II) ions and the detection limit was 3.9×10-5M . In part two PVC polymer with TBP plasticizer used as support of indicator. This method is more sensitive than cellulose membrane and mercury determined by absorption of ’ist complex with reagent at 386nm at pH=5. Calibration plots were found to be linear in range 4.0×10-5-1.0×10-2 M of Hg(II) ions and the detection limit was 2.4×10-5M .
