A new method based on corona discharge ion mobility spectrometry (CD-IMS) was developed for analysis of biogenic amines including, putrescine and cadaverine. n-Nonylamine was used as the reagent gas to control the ionization processes and enhance the selectivity. It was also realized that ion mobility spectrum of n-Nonylamine was changed with its concentration. Furthermore, a sample injection port of a gas chromatograph was modified and used as the sample introduction system for the CD-IMS. The detection limits and dynamic ranges of the calibration plots for the compounds were about 200 ng/mL and 2 orders of magnitude, respectively. The wide dynamic range originates from the high current of the corona discharge. The results reveal high capability of the CD-IMS for analysis of the biogenic amines. Analysis of Testosterone was also accomplished using corona discharge ion mobility spectrometry. Testosterone was extracted with solid phase extraction-C18 from Bovine Serum Albumin. The detection limits for the standard Testosterone and Testosterone in Bovine Serum Albumin were 34 ng/mL and 6 ng/mL, Dynamic ranges of the calibration plots were about 2 and 1 order of magnitude, respectively. The proposed method does not require derivatization. This is one of the main advantages of this method .
