Spacer fabrics are combination of two separated kinitted fabrics which are jointed together with a layer of monofilaments. The middle layer in these fabrics causes to establish a unique characteristic. In most of cases, these type of fabrics are used as pressure distributor or diminishing for automobile industry, medical textiles, technical and industrial textiles, geotextile and athletic garments. In most of applications, this textiles are exposed to fairly high lateral compression and their reaction to the compression forces are so important. With due attention to the magnitude to type of pressure behavior of different fabrics in application at various field, in this research the reaction of spacer fabrics to applied pressure forces have been investigated. The most important factor in pressure behavioure of middle monofilaments reaction. In order to simulate the lateral compression behavioure of spacer fabrics, six different type of samples were prepared. samples contain two completely solid sheets linked together by monofilaments with different physical parameters. Then two flat-attachable sheets made for strength tester as two pressure clampes.Using this clampes,the pressure test was carried out on the Zwick test.Two samples of actual spacer fabric with the same conditions were also tested. The results showed that the trend of deformation –force in the samples and actual spacer fabrics are identical. Also the results are revealed that some difference parameters such as fineness and monofilaments position affecting the pressure behavioure of this fabrics. with increasing the monofilament fineness, compression modulus is decreased. To explaining of the behavioure of force-deformation of spacer fabrics, two mechanical and mathematical modeling are accomplished. In the first model the theory of large deformation in the post buckling was used.The results showed that the theoretical values obtained from the modeling are not compatible with the experimental results.However,the fitted curves obtained from experimentals ,showe a good agreement with the second model based on Van Wy k's theory.
