Investigation of sedimentation in irrigation and drainage networks is necessary and inevitable in order to ensure suitable operation and transfer of water required to irrigate farms in our country due to undesirable efficiency. Entering sediments into network distorts in network components performance such as canals and gates, and it causes to dredge sediment getting nessecery. One of the parameter that help to know the function of sediment in canals, is sediment efficiency. In this study, sediment efficiency in main canal of Qazvin netwok was investigated in SHARC software by two ways, sediment depositing and sediment entering turnouts in different years. A hydraulic simulation of irrigation system was created by collecting data on sediment, entering water discharge and hydraulic properties of the network. By receiving the outputs of software, the average values of the total volume of sediment entering intake, depositing sediment and entering sediment turnouts in studied years were earned 79490, 27074 and 52417 respectively. Finally, with the ratio of the sediment volume, the average efficiency of depositing sediment and entering turnouts in studied years have been earned 33% and 67% respectively. In this regard, bed load and suspended load sediment sampling in secondary canals were taken and the results of them indicated that the available technical and social problems in network is an important factor that caused depositing a lot of fine sediments. By using software options in the created hydraulic simulation, sediment was control with equipment such as settling basin and sediment extractor and the result of working and economical analysis was seen.
