Phaseolus vulgaris L . is cultivated worldwide and is considered as a major source of protein for the people throughout the world. Colletorichum lindemuthianum (Sacc. Magnus) is the cause of anthracnose which is one of the most devastated diseases of common beans in the cultivated areas. In order to develope resistant cultivars, the resistance genes must be identified in genetic resources. To develop durable resistant varieties, a combination of identified resistant genes must be included in elite cultivars through breeding strategies. In this study, the presence of anthracnose resistance genes Co-2 ، Co-4 ، Co-5 ، Co-6 ، and Co-9 in 12 Iranian common bean cultivars were studied using 10 SCAR molecular markers. The results of polymerase chain reaction showed that the resistant gene Co-5 was only found in the positive controlled cultivar. Using SCAR markers the presence of resistant genes Co-9 , Co-6 Co-4 and Co-4 2 were detected in all 12 Iranian cultivars as well as the differential varieties related to the resistant genes. For the Co-2 resistance gene, in addition to the related differential variety, this gene presented in the Almas cultivar. Co-4 2 gene with the SH18 marker was detected in the positive control, as well as both Dorsa and Shokufa cultivars. The CO-4 2 gene linked to 14 marker was identified in Akhtar, Derakhshan, Goli, Naz, Sadra, Talash, Kusha, Khomein, Almas, Paak and also the differential variety of this resistant genes. The presence of Co-4 resistance gene linked to SC08 marker was identified in Akhtar, Derakhshan, Almas, Paak, Sadra, Talash, Kusha and Khomein cultivars as well as the related differential variety. The Co-6 resistance gene with SZ20 marker was determined in Akhtar, Derakhshan, Almas, Talash, Kusha and the related differential variety. The results of reaction of 12 studied cultivars against pathogenic agent in greenhouse conditions showed that four cultivars (Naz, Almas, Dorsa, Shokufa) with a disease reaction rate of less than 3 and considered as resistant. The scoring results also showed that, Aktar cultivar is moderate-resistant (MR), and the other cultivars were ranked in a sensitive group.
