High purity metallurgical grade silicon has many applications such as medical industry, polymer industry and the manufacture of solar cells. Removing of impurities from metallurgical grade silicon (MG-Si) is critical in these applications. The MG-Si studied in this research has various impurities of iron, calcium, aluminum, and tin. In this study, the hydrometallurgical purification method was chosen to purify of the MG-Si. In hydrometallurgical purification, many types of acids used as a solvent. The effect of hydrochloric acid, hydrofluoric acid, sulfuric acid, nitric acid in combination with each other as a solvent for purification of the MG-Si was investigated. The effect temperature particle size of MG-Si also investigated. The results showed that the highest purity achieved by the solvent of 25% HCl, 5% HF followed by 25% HCl,30% and 5% . It was found that in the range of 53 to 150 microns and 50 ° C for 6 hours achieved an appropriate efficiency and purity of MG-Si was 99.96%.
