One of the most important components of fluid transfer systems is control valves used in pipelines of petroleum and gas in petrochemical industries. The most important issue in control valves is to determine the flow characteristics which helps to achieve the suitable dimensions for the control of the flow rate or flow pressure. In this research, a control valve was modeled first and after optimizing the parameters, it was simulated. For this purpose, the flow behavior inside the valve is simulated using Ansys software. Combining the analytical and numerical results, it is possible to design a suitable internal profile for the control valve to meet the required flow rate and the properties. In this research, the internal profile of a control valve with specific control properties was designed in Catia software and then investigated and analyzed by Ansys software. In order to validate the numerical results, these results are compared with the information obtained from the installation site of the gas pipelines at the beginning of the line. The results of flow simulation were studied in different cases and the results showed that the maximum error of simulation was 2% in the case of studying cage and 5% in the case of studying internal profile. According to the presented results, the modification of the control valve is capable of controlling the flow rate according to the specified pattern. Keywords: CFX, Control Valve, Analysis, Fluid Flow
