Evaluating of grazing effect on soil and vegetation function in rangeland ecosystems is possible from identification and investigation of changes in indices of soil and vegetation in different periods. These studies which are done with the goal of sustainable development and balancing between production rate and improvement of land quality provide sustainable management and possibility of preventing land degradation. This study would investigate the type of pasture management on physical and chemical soil characteristics and also would identify features of the soil which are representative of soil quality and the effects of grazing type in rangeland ecosystems. For this purpose, a paired basin of Gonbad located in 30 km of southwest of Hamadan Province , was selected. So that in one of the areas there was controlled grazing management (sample Parcel) and continuous grazing (witness parcel) in another area. Firstly Soil samples were removed as random - systematic before and after of grazing time from depths of 0-10 and 10-30 cm of surface soil in three replications at intervals of 60 m. In the whole 96 soil samples from surface and deep horizons were taken and parameters of soil texture, bulk density, organic matter, soil pH, electrical conductivity (Ec), total N, K, soluble potassium and sodium were measured. The soil permeability was also measured in June. After testing of normality by using of Kolmogrov-Smirnoff test, data was analyzed by a factorial experimental design with the basic completely randomized design and comparison of mean in the statistical level of 5 percent by Duncan test. The results showed that soil physical indices better show the effects of grazing management than chemical indicators in this area, So that the amount of organic matter, total N and K, vegetation cover, species diversity and production rate in the sample parcel are greater than the witness parcel. Result also showed that continuous grazing would increase soil bulk density, soil pH and would reduce soil permeability. Due to climate condition, grazing management does not have any considerable influence on the Ec and solvent cations. Developed soils in witness parcel do not have enough stable due to excessive and early grazing and are also confronting with the lack of stability and lost quality. .
