In this study, the anodized Aluminum-1100 was selected as the substrate. The substrates were coated with some multi-layer material with different proportion of the Silica-Alumina-Zirconia. The coating process was carried out by the Sol-gel coating process. The thickness, morphology, and the wearing properties of the obtained coatings were studied at the room temperature. Investigating the cross-section of the obtained coatings, revealed that the thickness of the produced Aluminum-Oxide layer in the hard-anodizing process was 22 ?m and the thickness of the coated Sol-gel was about 4?m. Wear test results shown that the wear resistance was improved considerably through the hard-anodizing, Silica-Alumina Sol-gel coating and adding the YSZ powder. The friction coefficient of the substrate decreased from 2.04 to 0.68 by the anodizing and coating processes. It is worth mentioning that the friction coefficient of the Silica-Alumina coating is 0.74 and adding YSZ to the Silica-Alumina had no significant effect on decreasing the friction coefficient. However, adding more YSZ results in more bleach and uniform coating surface. This is an important issue in the kitchen utensils. In addition, the results of the wearing tests, showon that all coatings improve the wearing properties. Moreover, the highest value of the wearing resistance index was obtained by Silica-Alumina with20% Zirconia. wear rate of the substrate was measured about 36 ?g/m, while hard anodizing reduced the wearing rate to 7.3 ?g/m.
