Since there has not been any standard about the design and analysis of the point supported glass buildings with tension structures, this thesis explains the methodology and design parameters for these types of structures. All, the available software and finite element packages about the design and analysis of glass and tension structures are studied and eventually SAP2000 software is used for analysis of tension structures and SJ-Mepla software is used for that of glass parts. First, a 20×20 m cable-net glass facade by two simple and complete methods is modeled and the results compared with those available in the literature. Some Models are then created in SAP software and the effect of loads and other important parameters on the tension structures are analyzed by the proposed models. Glass structures with all kind of point supporting tools and loads are modeled in SJ-Mepla software and the results are compared with each other. Using the result in the literature review together with the performed analysis, the effective parameters are derived and a method for modeling and analysis of these buildings is proposed. Also, some acceptable criteria are proposed according to the results of the analysis. An example of a real building is also modeled to ensure the capability of the proposed method for modeling and analysis of the point supported glass buildings with tension structures. The case study is a 4.5×4.37 m point supported glass roof with truss cables which is constructed after design and analysis as the first tension structure roof in Iran .
