Diversity is one of the inherent characteristics of every human being. This feature has led humans to move toward flexible systems and deliver flexible manufacturing lines. In other words, gaining the most flexibility in production to compete and diversify the products, increasing the productivity and reducing production costs are the main reasons for using flexible manufacturing systems. Therefore, the flexibility and automation of the system are important features of the flexible manufacturing system. The present study includes the design and fabrication of a pallet feeding unit in a laboratoric FMS. According to the system requirements, all components and operators are selected or designed to automatically feed the pallets to the production line. The system includes pallet feeder, to-be-assembled parts' Feeders, assembling robot, and pallet storage stations. Also, for the control, and coordination of all components of the system a programmable logic controller has been used.
