The primary objective of this research is the analysis of stability and design of supporting system for water transfer tunnel of Vanak dam (Shohadaye Cheshme Ali) which is located in Gandoman town (from Chahar Mahl o Bakhtiari province). The goal of constructing of this dam is about exploiting of water of Soolegan river which is one of the important prongs of Karoon river, that is led providing the agricultural water for Khan Mirza, Chenar Mahmood, Moonj grounds, and also for drink water and for industries if it is possible. Water transferring system of the Vanak dam is composed of transfer tunnel structures, pipes and water pressure. The water transfer tunnel have 15 ( ) capacity with 3.7 (m) diameter, 3032 (m) length and 2075 (m) above of the sea surface. This tunnel transfers the additional dam water to desire places. The dam path is passed through from three sections with different geomechanics properties. Therefore, the dam path can be divided into three parts for the analysis of stability and design of supporting system, and the stability of each part is examined by numerical methods (finite element and distinct element methods) and experimental methods.
