Conservation agriculture is a way to sustainably use farms and environment. Due to low rainfall (250 mm in average) in the central Iran and high surface evaporation (three times of global standard), it is necessary to apply the conservation tillage including minimum tillage. In the present study, application of conservation tillage using a combination of winged chisel tine and roller packer was used. To do this, the effect of winged type and roller packer for chisel plow on draft force, special draft force, and soil loosening have been considered. Experiments were done in a split-split plot designed for four types of tillage tines (chisel, wedge, winged chisel, and winged wedge) under two water contents (0.5 and 0.9 Plastic limit), with and without roller packer with four replications. Soil texture was clay loam at Research Field of Isfahan University of Technology (central Iran). Feature of wings including width, position, rake angle, and tendency were considered. In addition, the performance of the basket roller and jagged triangle were compared. Preliminary studies were done in the paradise area of Isfahan University of Technology in the sandy clay loam soil. Four winged chisel tines with the width of 35 and 45 cm at two position of wings 3 and 6 cm were designed and developed. Draft, cross-section area of disturbed soil, special draft, mean clod weight diameter (MWD), and failure width in the depth of 15 and 25 cm were measured with three replications. Preliminary results showed that the performance of the winged chisel tine with width of 45 cm and the position of wing at 3 cm was good. MWD and the average sinkage of soil for two rollers under three water contents (0.5 PL, 0.9 PL, and 1.1 PL) with two replications were measured. It was revealed that the performance of jagged triangle roller was better. With increasing water content from 0.5 PL to 0.9 PL, the draft decreased. The draft force was increased 47% and 49% using wing in the chisel and wedge tines, respectively. Cross section area of disturbed soil was increased 120% and specific draft force was decreased 40% using wing. With increasing soil water content from 0.5 to 0.9 PL, the size of clods decreased. The size of soil clods was increased 7% by using winged on chisel and wedge tines. MWD decreased with decreasing the distance of position of wing. The size of soil clods decreased 25% by using of roller packers. Decreasing up-heaving of soil resulted from tillage, the size of clods, and making a smooth place for cultivating were achieved by using of the roller packers. The jagged triangle roller had a better performance than the basket roller in the clay loam soil. The winged tine left more residuals on the soil surface. Combination of winged chisel tine and jagged triangle roller had a better performance to provide a suitable seed bed at 0.9 PL water content and leaving of 75% residual on the soil surface.
