The focus of this research was on structure, reactivity and selectivity of Alumina. The effect of preparation conditions on structural aspects and catalytic behavior of Alumina were investigated. By means of XRD, SEM, FT-IR and thermal analysis the effect of preparation conditions on texture was monitored. Elimination reaction of secondary alcohols (2- octanol) and tertiary alcohols (1,2- di phenyl 2- propanol) was performed over these catalysts. Elucidation of observed reactivity and selectivity has been done. Effect of pressure on crystallinity and particle size was obvious. Furthermore reactivity of secondary alcohol on the catalyst calcined at higher temperatures increased. Adversely, the increase in reactivity of tertiary alcohol over catalysts calcined at lower temperatures was observed.
