Recent growth in nanocomposite studying has proved the utilization of carbon based materials and metal oxide nanoparticles as reinforcement fillers in the synthesis of polymer nanocomposite. The potential application of these nanomaterials could be improved by their covalent functionalization especially with environmentally friendly molecules. In this research, multiwalled carbon nanotube was functionalized by different types of biomolecules via various procedure and titanium dioxide (TiO 2 ) nanoparticles was selected as metal oxide nanofiller reinforcement and was functionalized by diacid. Surface functional groups and morphology of materials were analyzed by several techniques. The prepared functionalized nanofillers were utilized for the synthesis of chitosan nanocomposites through solution mixing method. Synthesized nanocomposites were characterized by several techniques. The thermal stability of prepared nanocomposites was improved due to the better interfacial interaction and good dispersion between the polymer matrix and functionalized fillers.
