Tralantation is a typical method of plant cultivation that has gained great importance due to lack of water resources, population growth and the need for food production. Recently, soil pots made from soil and organic and inorganic materials are replacing seedling transfer trays. In this study, 12 treatments were made for seedling and tralanting pots in order to find the optimum combination(s). The treatments were made from combinations of two clay types, bentonite and zeolite, with three organic types; cocopeat, myrtus compost and bagasse compost in two levels. In order to study the important characteristics in the growth medium (e.g., water retention, aeration and mechanical strength), water characteristic curve, penetration resistance curve and tensile strength curve of the treatments were measured and are modeled by van Genuchten model and the adjusted van Genuchten model, respectively. Then numerous indices and quantities including field capacity ( ? FC ), wilting point ( ? PWP ), available water (AW), macroporosity, mesoporosity, microporosity, air porosity (AC), and Dexter’s physical quality ( S ) and hardsetting ( H Dexter ) indices were calculated. The analysis of variance and comparison of the mean values of the treatments were performed based on completely randomized design. In the next step, various measured or calculated indices were scored for each of the studied treatment. The total ranking for each treatment was calculated by the sum of scores. Finally, the rank scores of the treatments were Keywords: Bentonite, Zeolite, Cocopeat, Seedling, Soil pots, Water characteristic curve, Penetration resistance, Tensile strength
