Environmental hazards caused by improper management of industrial wastes are considered as one of the most fundamental issues in the country. It has become more serious because of industries growth and their concentration in industrial areas. The purpose of this study is the investigation of type and amount of produced wastes in Razi industrial town, situated in Isfahan province, and the selection of suitable option for their management. Actually, only 13% of granted units have been exploited, and the management of wastes is essential because of the development of the town and the exploitation of other units in near future. Chemical industries are the biggest group of industries in this town (38%). The other industries include metal (24%), food (17%), wood and paper (6%), electric and electronics (1%), textile (2%) and service units (5%). The questionnaire method was used to quantify the wastes production in exploitation phase. The amount and type of wastes were estimated for development phase by calculated the production rate of wastes in industrial units. The hazardous wastes were Basel convention. The results showed that about 64155.5 tone/year industrial wastes will be produced, that 7808 tone generated in exploitation phase and 56347.5 tone in development phase. The hazardous wastes are the most major industrial wastes in Razi industrial town (36.2%), followed by metal (17.8%), inert (15.2%), organic (13.9%), plastic and rubber (7%), paper and cardboard (3%), wood (2%), textiles (1.6%), glass (0.1%) and other waste 3.2%. The average production rate of municipal wastes in this town has been estimated 340 g/day/person. The illegal discharge in a site near the town is the most frequent used method for disposal of industrial wastes (68%). The other methods for disposal of industrial wastes include in site recycling (14%), off site recycling (17%), disposal with municipal wastes (1%) and incineration (0.05%). In general, about 70% of industrial wastes produced in this town could be recycled and 30% should be disposed. Regarding the existing conditions and rules, the industrial wastes management in this town is based on the methods of reduction of wastes at source, recycling and landfilling of non recyclable wastes.
