Environmental pollution is considered as one of the main concernsrelated to industrialdevelopment in societies throughout the world. Due to the increasing polluting industries in Iran, modeling the dispersion of their pollutants and evaluation of the pollution effects are essential. Cement industriesmay negatively affect plant communities grown around them because of their released particulae matters. The aim of this study was determination of particle matter dispersion from SaroojCement Factory, using AERMOD software and investigation of the effect of the plant on accumulation of heavy metals in soil and plants. First, the annual dispersion of the factory particle matter was modeled using AERMODsoftware. Then, regarding the dispersion of particulate matter, 36 points were selected for soil and plant sampling. Heavy metals, including chromium, zinc and, lead, and plants species includings Scariolaorientalis and Stachysinflate were stuied. Plant samples were divided into root and shoot samples and the soil sampling was carried out from rhizosphere. Heavy metal concentration of digested soil and plant samples were measured using atomic absorption spectroscopy. Furthermore, some soil chemical properties such as electrical conductivity, organic carbon content, the percentage of lime and pH were measured. The results revealed that the vegetation frequevcy was not affected by distance from the factory. According to the Iran Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) soil heavy metal standards, the concentration of chromium and lead in soil was less than the standard level, while zinc concentration was more than the standard level. Mean data comparsion showed a significant difference between the average concentration of heavy metals in soil and plants. Maximum concentrations of the metals were detected in west and east directions in accordance with the region's prevailing winds. Metal dispersion was almost similar to the dispersion of particulate matter. The assessment results of the effect of factory on vegetation, using qualitative and quantitative indicators of soil resources provided by Iran EPA showed that soil lead concentration was in range of possible risk, in some parts for agriculture, therefore, lead pollution in the region should be considered. The correlation results between measured concentrations of heavy metals in soil samples and software data based on data Keywords: Assessment, Pollution, Vegetation, Sampling, AERMOD
