Mighan wetland covers an area of 109 square kilometers in the center of the country and in Markazi Province, which includes a lake with three islands in the middle, the desert and surrounding plains. Given that 20 percent of the whole population of province birds and 6 percent of the countries’ living there, this as wetland is considered as one of the important winter habitat of grus grus in the country is of special importance. The aim of this study was to evaluate the utility of the different parts of the wetland as habitats of grus grus and prioritize destruction factors of them in order to improve the ecological habitat of this species. Analyzing the results of mapping and modeling habitat suitability of grus grus in the Markazi Province indicated that that environmental variables on land use, vegetation type and distance of the four areas (wildlife sanctuary and protected areas) with a total of 9/78% had the highest share in the grus grus habitat suitability models compared to other environmental variables. According to the results, grus grus prefer humid and semi-humid, aquatic vegetation and planting of irrigated vegetation, elevation 1900-1300 meters and a slope of less than 5% over the other regions. The numeric Index of the area under the receptor performance curve resulting from the modeling of a habitat suitability was calculated as 997/0, reflecting the high accuracy of habitat suitability model. Analysis of environmental variables response curves showed that the presence of aqueous environment is the first factor influencing the selection the grus grus habitat. The range of potential habitat of grus grus in Markazi Province does not have the same utility due to human variations. About 70% of the total potential habitat of this species in the Markazi Province ( approximately 75 square kilometers), lack sufficient suitability for the presence of this species and this bird is seen rarely and accidently in these areas and only about 30% is sufficiently desirable for the continuing presence of the grus grus. A wide range of favorable habitat zones have been located on the edge of land and water Mighan wetland. Most adverse wetland habitat ranges are located in central areas of the wetland as well as in the upland areas away from the wetland. The results of AHP indicated that three factors of communicative roads, settlement and land use changes have the highest weight among the destruction factors and are identified as the first three destruction factors that have priority over the other factors.
