In this thesis, Zn(II) metal complexes with the non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs Ibuprofen and Naproxen have been synthesized and characterized in the presence of nitrogen donor heterocyclic ligands isothiocyanate and sodium azide with general formula of: M2[ZnX2L2](X=Ibuprofen,Naproxen,ML=KSCN,NaN3). The complexes were tested for in vitro growth inhibitory activity against Escherichia coli and Salmonela, were found to possess significant Activity. The complexes were identified and fully characterized by elemental analysis and spectroscopic studies (IR, 1H-NMR) and investigated by Density Functional Theory (DFT). The elemental analysis results of the prepared compounds are in a good agreement with the calculated values. Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) are among the most frequently used medicinal drugs used as analgesic, anti-inflammatory and antipyretic agents Additionally, NSAIDs have exhibited chemopreventive and anti-tumorigenic activity by reducing the number and size of carcinogen-induced colon tumors and exhibiting a synergistic role on the activity of certain antitumor drugs .Ibuprofen (Ibu) and Naproxen (Nap), belong to the NSAID group of phenyl alkanoic acids. They exhibit favourable anti-inflammatory, analgesic and antipyretic properties.
