Palladium based catalysts particularly Nano scale palladium particles have recently drawn enormous attention. In this thesis, palladium nanoparticles supported on with poly(N-vinyl-2-pyrrolidone) (PVP) were synthesized and used as heterogeneous catalyst in organic synthesis. In order to do this and based on previous researches, at first [Pd(µ-I)(NO 2- Y)] 2 ) complex was synthesized by use of Palladium Chloride and 4 -nitro benzyl methylene triphenylphosphorane ligand. After that Palladium Nano catalyst supported on (Pd:PVP,1:5) was made. X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron microscopy showed that the palladium particles were well-distributed within the polymer matrix and were typically about 25 nm in diameter. The catalyst was used for phenyl boronic acid with different aryl halides coupling ( Suzuki coupling reaction) and styrene with different aryl halides coupling (Heck coupling reaction) and the corresponding products showed high yield ranges. After reactions, the catalyst can be separated by simple method and used many times in repeating cycles without considerable loss in its activity.
