The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficiency of Carboxymethyl cellulose /Fe 3 O 4 for adsorption lead and cadmium ions. The Nano composite was prepared by co-precipitation method under alkaline condition. Several important parameters influencing the adsorption of such as metals concentration‚ contact time‚ pH‚ amount of adsorbent was investigated systematically in the batch experiments. The optimum condition for removal of Lead and cadmium ions were determined‚15 minutes contact time in pH of DI water with 0.1g adsorbent for concentrations 15 ppm 10 ppm respectively. The adsorption kinetics fitted well pseudo- second-order model and the adsorption data obeyed the Langmuir and Redlich- Peterson isotherm with a maximum adsorption capacity of 22.9 mg/g for Cd 2+ and 29.9 mg/g for Pb 2+ and the magnetic adsorbent was characterized by IR‚ XRD‚ TGA‚ BET and SEM analysis.
