In the first part, a new bidentate ligand, N-(5-methyl-thiazole-2-yl) pyrazin-2-carboxamide(HMetpz) was synthesized by a green ionic liquid-based method using tetrabuty ammuniom bromide (TBAB) in order to develop a new approach for removing the dangerous pyridine and for improving the reaction time and yield. The following complexes were then synthesized using this ligand and cobalt (II) and zinc (II) salts. 1 ) [Co(Metpz)2(C2H5OH)2] 2 ) [Zn4(Metpz)4(OAc)2(O)].CH2Cl2 In the second part, a new tetradentate ligand 8-(3-pyrazol carboxamido)qinoline (H2qpyzc) was synthesized by a green ionic liquidbased method using tetrabutyl ammuniom bromide (TBAB). To investigate the possibility of the application of these new ligand as sensor for detection of biologically important ions, the absorption and florescence spectra of these ligand were obtained. The spectral properties of these ligand, i.e H2qpyzc was investigated in the absence and presence of different metal ions. The results show that these ligand can be used as a turn-off fluorescent sensor for detection of Cu2+ ions with high selectivity and sensitivity compared to other metal.
