In current project, firstly, to achieve a suitable catalyst for esterification reaction. In the first stage, ?-alumina physical and chemical was mixed with a number of different Amberlite and reaction between methanol with acetic acid and acetic acid with 1-heptanol was carried out. The synthetic catalysts was identified using the FESEM, FTIR and XRD methods and then reacted with methanol and acetic acid at the ratio of 4:1 at reflux system at temperatures of 50, 60 and 70 ?C to achieve the synthesis of methyl acetate and examine the catalyst performance using gas chromatography (GC-mass). In the next step, to synthesize the heptiyl acetate is mixed the acetic acid with the ratio of 1:1 and 1:2 with 1-heptanol over alumina and amberlite (IRA-120) catalyst at temperatures of 70, 100 and 130 ?C. Then the efficiency and extent of reactions was determined using GC-mass. Finally the optimum conditions (temperature and reaction time and chatalyts) were selected for both products.
