In this work an effective, clean and simple method for one-pot synthesis of amide and nitrile in presence of ionic liquid was reported using microwave irradiation. [BMIM][C 12 H 25 SO 3 - ] was synthesized as a new ionic liquid and the nitriles and amides were synthesized with microwave irradiation. Three kinds of ionic liquid [BMIM] [C 12 H 25 SO 3 - ], [BMIM]Br and [PPIM]Br were investigated. [BMIM] [C 12 H 25 SO 3 - ] was more effective in dehydration of aldoximes and yielded 99% of salicylnitrile. Finally, the nitriles and amides were characterized with FTIR.spectroscopy. ZrO 2 -TiO 2 mixed oxides with the Zr and Ti molar ratio of 1/1 were prepared with and without surfactant. The obtained mixed oxide has an amorphous structure and showed better catalytic activities in comparison with the mixed oxides prepared via co-precipitation route. Surfactant addition caused an increase in surface area and enhanced the catalytic properties of this mixed oxide. Catalysts containing 0-35% H 3 PO 4 were prepared using these mixed oxide and the catalytic performance of each material for vapor phase dehydration of 2-octanol was determined. These mixed oxides were characterized by several methods.
