Planning for conservation is essential factor for increasing the resistance of biodiversity. One of the important steps in conservation planning is gap analysis. Gap analysis identifies and prioritizes the future protected areas via assessing the biodiversity and recognizing the threats due to human activities at the current network of protected area. First chapter of this research is allocated to gathering information on distribution of key species at the study area such as Gazella, Ovis and Capra and then preparing the species distribution maps via field works and cooperation of the department of environment‘s experts. Finally, species distribution maps have been overlaid with the current network of protected areas for identifying gaps. The results of gap analysis indicate that the Gazella Sp species has not been protected properly at the study area. At the second chapter, we have run the environmental risk analysis with the aim of assessing the environmental threats by applying environmental risk model. To achieve our objectives, the maps of mine and industries, roads, cities and agricultural lands are selected for assessing the risk areas via risk model. Finally the high risk areas are identified and prioritized by considering the distance and intensity of impacts. The result of environmental risk assessment indicates that the South part of the Zanjan province has the less conflict in comparison with the middle part of the province which has the largest amount of conflicts. It is worth mentioning that the South part of the Zanjan province potentially has consists of high quality habitats of Gazella Sp. After Literature Review indicated, the south part of Zanjan province has been proposed to add into the current network of protected area with the aim of enhancing the efficiency of current protected areas in conserving the key species such as Gazella Sp and Capra Sp. Finally the results of environmental risk analysis overlaid with the current network of protected area with the aim of identifying the high risk zones. The results indicate that the South part of the Sorkhabad Porotect Area is located at the highest conflicts areas which needs the comprehensive management plan for mitigating and decreasing the conflicts.
