Although Iran is located on Alpine-Himalayan copper belt, many regions in Iran are not well-explored yet and only a few occurrences or deposits are known. Therefore using knowledge-driven methods for integrating exploratory evidences can be appropriate to detect new deposits. One of the well documented knowledge-driven methods known as dempster-shafer is based on Dempster’s work on the generalization of Bayesian lower and upper probabilities. Due to current global economic crisis, the quantification of uncertainty in exploratory data integration and associated risk is becoming increasingly more important in any mineral exploration project. The main advantage of dempster-shafer theory as compared with other integrating methods is the ability to model the uncertainty. This approach is capable to be use in different scales. In current study, the integration of exploratory evidences is conducted in regional scale followed by local scale on chahfiroozeh porphyry copper deposit. Exploratory data in regional scale include airborne magnetics, ASTER multi-spectal imagery, geochemical stream sample sediments and 1:100000 geological map of Shahr-e-Babak. The data layers in local scale encompassing chahfiroozeh porphyry copper deposit include IP/RS geophysical data, 1:2000 local geological map plus 42 borehole logged for lithology and alteration throughout Chahfiroozeh area. After required data preprocessing, the regional scale data were employed for mapping favorability of porphyry copper mineralization in north of Shahr-e-Babak, using dempster-Shafer approach. The obtained favorable areas coincide well with locations of known deposits and copper mineralization indications throughout the study area. Next, the local data were used for detecting favorable mineralization areas to be explored using further complementary drilling. Accordingly, three locations were proposed for next stage drilling. In order to evaluate the validity of dempster-shafer results, the fuzzy logic approach in regional scale was performed and the results were compared. The favorable areas obtained out of dempster-shafer approach suggested additional prospects to the north-west of study area compared to fuzzy logic opening new exploratory lease for future exploration programs. For validating local scale favorability map, the Mo, Zn, Pb, Cu assay data of drill core samples were assisted. The results were encouraging and well consistent.
