The most important abilities of a successful entrepreneur are identification and selection of the right opportunities for new businesses. Despite the rich literature on identifying entrepreneurial opportunities, little research has been done in the field of agriculture. The purpose of this study is to identify the main determinants of entrepreneurial opportunity recognition in the greenhouse vegetable of Isfahan county. The research method is descriptive-survey and the data were collected through face-to-face interview with 133 greenhouse farms and agribusiness related to value chain of greenhouse by structured questionnaire and the theoretical framework was operationalized through structural equation modeling. The results showed that personality traits, prior knowledge, social networks, discovery versus active search, alertness and communication channels are the main factors in identifying entrepreneurial opportunity. The opportunity recognition of “top entrepreneurs in greenhouse value chain” was more than conventional metal and wood greenhouses and contrary to the hypothesis, there was no significant difference between the opportunity recognition of metal and wood greenhouse farmers. The entrepreneurial opportunity recognition in this agribusiness is on both opportunity creation and opportunity discovery, however there is the dominance of opportunity creation by adoption of new technology, market needs and governmental policies and supports.
