The present experiment was conducted to evaluate the effect of different nitrogen levels and planting arrangements on yield, yield component and weeds control of linseed ( Linum usitatisimum) -berseem clover ( Trifolium alexandrinum ) mix intercro in research farm of Isfahan University of Technology on Lavark, Najaf Abad region, Isfahan (Iran), in 2012. Experiment was arranged in split plots based on completely randomized block design in three replications. The main plots involved different nitrogen application rates in three levels( 0 kg/ha,30 kg/ha, 60 kg/ha) and subplots included different planting arrangements of two crops in six scenario(400 plants/m2 linseed, 430 plants/m2 berseem clover, mixed intercropping of linseed-clover in 200 plants/m 2 linseed and 215 plants/m 2 berseem clover, 280 plants/m 2 linseed and 301plants/m 2 berseem clover ,200 plants/m 2 linseed and 301 plants/m 2 berseem clover, 280 plants/m 2 linseed and 215 plants/m 2 berseem clover). The highest weeds dry matter obtained when 60 kg/ha nitrogen were applied in monoculture of berseem clover and linseed. Linseed had the highest yield in monoculture and 0 kg/ha nitrogen treatments. Different mixed-intercropping arrangements had no difference yield significantly. Berseem clover and linseed had the highest total yield in nitrogen application of 30 kg/ha and treatments 200 plants/m 2 linseed and 301 plants/m 2 berseem clover respectively. Total yield for both crops was higher in intercropping treatments and varied significantly compared to that for individually monocultures, suggesting superiority of mixed-intercropping than monoculture. The highest land equivalent ratio (LER=1.45) was obtained when treatment linseed-berseem clover 280 plants/m 2 and 301 plants/m 2 berseem clover applied. Application of 30 kg/ha nitrogen also resulted in highest LER among others. As a whole, results from the experiment showed that mixed intercropping of both crops and application of 30 kg/ha N is much more efficient than monocultures, resulting in the highest yield. Also, mixing both species is shown to be successful in controlling weeds and hence it can be taken as appropriate method to control of weeds.
