Many analytical instruments require clean air in order to function properly. The air is clean when it is without moisture, ammonia, chlorine, nitrogen oxides, carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide. At present, compressed air cylinders are mainly used in laboratories, which is costly and risky. In this project, an instrument was constructed that is capable of producing clean and dry air, with impurities in the range of ppm or even less, to be used as an alternative to compressed air cylinders in labs. The device produces clean air simultaneously with two methods of pressure swing adsorption (PSA) and temperature swing adsorption (TSA). The humidity of the air produced by the zero air generator, was 1.2 ppm, and the commercial compression air was 8 ppm. The air quality of the device was examined with an ion mobility spectrometer (IMS). Pollutants such as ammonia, chlorine and hydrocarbons were not observed in the background spectrum. This, due to the high sensitivity of the ion mobility spectrometer, suggests that the concentration of these contaminants is within the range of level or even less. The machine is completely automatic and does not require user intervention. The device was continuously used for several weeks while its quality was monitored, and its correct operation was confirmed.
