Due to increased requirements on the reliability and survivability of systems, more control effectors/surfaces are being introduced. Fault diagnosis has been becoming a significant topic especially in the control of complex systems. Fault occurrence in technical systems may lead to weak performance and product failure. The goal is to detect faults as early as possible and provide a timely warning. A fault tolerant system is the one that can continue its operation without significant impact on performance in the presence of hardware and/or software faults. A new design scheme of a reconfigurable Fault Tolerant Control System based on the Laguerre-based fault detection and diagnosis and Laguerre-based model reference adaptive control is proposed in this project.
