Many of Iran’s lands has located in arid and semi arid zones, as the wind is a important factor of erosion and land degradation in these regions, so it is necessary to study wind properties such as speed, direction and frequency. The aim of this study is comprehensive and applied research on wind properties in four synoptic climatology stations in Semnan province, that for accomplishment of it was plotted wind rose and sand rose of them as monthly, yearly and long time series, and was predicted and simulated wind speed and direction data in hourly format. Additionally, was accomplished frequency analysis in two sections of monthly and various directions. In order to plotting of wind rose and sand rose, first was transformed data derived from Iran Climatology Organization to acceptable format of wind rose and sand rose plotting soft wares, using WD Convert program. Then was used WR Plot software in order to plotting of wind rose with plotting capability of various direction of wind rose, various categories of wind speed and their frequencies. Sand Rose Graph was used in order to sand rose plotting while it is capable for calculation of sand movement potential, resultant of sand movement potential, angle of sand movement relative to north direction and homogeneous index of sand traortation aspect. For prediction and simulation of wind speed and direction was used Windpred software that all calculations result on basis of Weibull relationship. Frequency analysis was accomplished in two separated sections by Freq082004 software - that is running in MATLAB environment - including 16 directions and year months. Results showed that wind direction in four mentioned climatology stations is; north in Biarejmand st., east in Garmsar st., north north west in Semnan st. and north in Shahrud st. . Most percentage of quiet wind in Biarjmand station is belong to year 1994 and December month, in Garmsar station is belong to year 1986 and December month, in Semnan station is belong to year 1977 and January month and in Shahrud station is belong to year 2002 and December month. It was shown that in dividing of various energy groups, Shahrud station locates in low energy group, Semnan station locates in moderate energy group and Garmsar and Biarjmand stations locates in high energy group. In aspect of homogenous index of sand traortation, Biarjmand, Shahrud, Semnan and Garmsar stations have highest index amount in arrangement in other words they have minimum variation in dominant wind blowing direction. July month in Biarjmand, Garmsar and Semnan stations and April month in Shahrud station were predicted as most turbulent months. Highest simulated hourly wind speed amount generally happens in between of 11 to 14 o’clock. Highest estimated speed for long return periods belongs to; west south west direction in Biarjmand station, north north
