Planting and designing of urban landscape is impossible without considering the issue standards and optimal model for development. In each urban space a part of urban lacape is dedicated to the development of green space. So the plant selection should be according to natural environment for the development of green space. In a warm and arid country like Iran and cities like Isfahan the issue is more critical following harsh environment conditions like low percipilation and water shortage. Olive which is one of the resistant plants to dry conditions as it is ever green is considered in the recent years. A research was conducted at olive orchard of Isfahan university of technology in 2011-2013. The experiment carried out with 3 replication based on a complete block design each replication consisted of 3 trees. Treatments included 6 methods of water distribution with drip irrigation system (M 1, M 2, M 3, M 4, M 5, M 6 ) and one surface irrigation (M 7 ). Volume of irrigated water in all treatment was equall. Different traits including height, trunk diameter, canopy volume, canopy height, leaf fresh weight, leaf dry weight, proline, sugar, shoots of growth, SPAD index, percent nitrogen, chlorophyll fluorescence, chorophyll content a, b and overall, photosynthesis, stomatal conductance and carbon dioxide. Results showed that different irrigation treatment did not affect height, diameter, canopy height and volume, however these indices were greater in drip irrigation componed to surface irrigation. Dry and fresh weight of leaves decreased following the change of surface irrigation to the drip irrigation system. The highest amount was realate to 5-day water regime (M 2 ) and the lowest amount was recorded in surface irrigation (M 2 ). It was 6.1 and 4.12 gr for fresh weight and 3.11 and 2 gr for dry weight. Prolin and dissolved carbohydrate content was greater in drip irrigation compare to surface irrigation. The carrent growth of stems decreased when irrigation changed from surface to drip one and in M 2 treatment the highest growth achieved 2.04 and the lowest one was 0.88. the effect of treatment was not significant on other traits. In general the results showed that changing irrigation system from surface irrigation to drip irrigation was promoting, however they were mostly insignificant. In this one year experiment there were no restricateiu in altering the irrigation system, so it is recommended that the results to be assesd after several years too.
