Polypropylene/ Organo modified montmorillonite(O-MMT) compounds were prepared by using internal mixer and extruder. Two types of O-MMT(C15A and C30B) with different concentrations(1-10 wt%) were used by internal mixer. Results showed that compounds containing C15A were more compatible than C30B, thus these compounds were prepared by twin extruder for surface coating. Granules were powdered from these compounds in a special mill by using liquid nitrogen. The metal samples were prepared in required sizes, then the surface of samples were treated by two different methods(etching and electropolishing). The powder applied on metal surface by electrostatic apparatus. After this step the samples were heated in a vacuum oven at 240 ?c for 10 minutes. After melting the polymer powder a uniform polymer coating was achieved. The sample prepared by etching method had higher adhesion, abrasion resistance , flexibility and corrosion resistance relative to the other samples. In these samples adhesion increases by increasing the C15A loading. However in the samples prepared by electropolish, both adhesion and abrasion resistance decrease by increasing the C15A loading. The samples containing 0.5 wt% O-MMT and prepared by etching method showed maximum corrosion resistance during the salt spray test. After 32 days these samples remained without any damage.
