Despite the small amount in asphalt mixtures, bitumen plays the most important role in front of different loading conditions in asphalt pavements. As an accepted principle, time lapse eliminate positive physical and chemical properties of bitumen. The reason of this phenomenon is known as aging. From the other hand, despite the ever-increasing of man necessities and more necessity to use of unrecoverable resources such as aggregates and bitumen, there is a forward decrease in crude oil and therefor bitumen resources in the world. For this reason there is a serious trend into asphalt recycling and reusing of available bitumens. One of the most important obstacles of asphalt recycling is aged bitumen which lost their appropriate propetries due the change of physical changes. For the reason trend into rejuvenating of aged bitumen with rejuvenators have been increased. Rejuvenators are one branch of bitumen modifiers which make bitumens recyclable and reusable with returning bitumen properties back into not used bitumen. So finding a cheap, available material which have similar structure to bitumen and eliminate needs of importing for rejuvenation of aged bitumen to recycle and/or reuse of used road pavements used bitumen, decrease asphalt mixing and compacting temperature due to viscosity decrease, increase fatigue and low-temperature cracking resistance of bitumen and use all benefits of asphalt recycling seems beneficial. One of the cheap and easy-accessible oily materials that is the heaviest cut in vacuum distillation tower is vacuum tower distillation bottom or VB. Assessment of this heavy organic material as a rejuvenator and comparing its aging with aging of original bitumen and investigation of its properties, was the goal of this study. For this, to simulate short term and long term aging, Rolling Thin Film Oven (RTFO) and Pressure Aging Vessel (PAV) test had done respectively on 60-70 pen grade bitumen and then combined with VB in two different percent. Then RTFO and PAV tests have done on the combined samples again. After that, basic experiments including penetration and softening point(R am), performance grade experiments including Linear Amplitude Sweep (LAS), Bending Beam Rheometer(BBR), Multiple Stress Creep and Recovery(MSCR) and chemical experiment including Fourier Transform Infra-Red(FTIR) had done on the all prepared samples. Results showed that adding VB into the bitumen, caused rejuvenation of aged bitumen even after further aging. Furthermore, at many cases caused modification and improving the low-temperature cracking, fatigue and rutting resistance of aged bitumen.
