In contrary with the slow development of new textile materials, production of nanofibers through electrospinning has attracted the attention of many researchers because of their unique properties and remarkable advantages. Doubtless, the utilization of biopolymers along with the new approaches in electrospinning of polymers will have excellent rewarded issues in medical and industrial applications. Among various well know biopolymers, electrospinning of chitosan has had many progression due to its particular characteristics, but the polyelectrolyte effect of chitosan increases the viscosity of the solution and complicates its electrospinning. In this study an attempt is made to produce nanofibers of chitosan and its blend with polyvinyl alcohol. Pilot studies failure in electrospinning of pure, high molecular weight chitosan conduced to employing of a hydrolization method in NaOH 50% and high temperature. afterward in the first instance the blend of 5hours hydrolyzed chitosan /PVA in volume ratios 50/50, 60/40 and 70/30 were electrospun successfully. Concerning to the effect of hydrolization in reduction of chitosan molecular weight, this process prolonged to 8,12,16,24 and 48 hours and finally 48 hours hydrolyzed chitosan was suitable for production of pure chitosan nanofibers with 140.40 nm diameter. As another effective parameter, the concentration of Acetic Acid ( as the solvent ) was reduced from 90% to 80% and 70%, with acceptable results. The investigation of the nanofibers physical properties showed 74% increment of regin moisture from 8% to 13.95% in comparison with chitosan powder. Besides chitosan nanofibers could keep theit structure in water after 3 hours. It should be stated that the diameter of nanofibers decreases by increasing of the chitosan portion
