Deregulation of telecom market accelerated growth and innovation of this industry and mobile operators have faced radical changes in technology, service portfolio and delivery methods. Managing this migration process will lead to growth and lack of ability to manage this process weakens company competitive position from financial and customer base points of view. Structural changes like privatization and emerging competitive paradigm in this industry from one side, and reaching saturation in some markets on the other side, created average revenue per user decline challenge for mobile operators. Mobile operators business is based on traffic volume in the network, therefore revenue growth in competitive environments considering continues price decline and customer profile change toward low-income levels of society, can be achieved via customer increase and/or usage enhancement. Customer promotion, increasing variety and innovating services such as mobile data and value-added services in the network, will enhance usage. Network capacity shortage and need of capabilities for new services, forced operators to move forward new technologies and upgrade their platforms. This change in paradigm caused emergence of new players to this business and evolution of value chain to value network. In this thesis, a system dynamics approach has been applied to model and analyze technology advancement and platform migration and service innovation processes of mobile operators, and finally strategies have been suggested to gain and secure competitive advantages.
